Proud queer Wiradjuri/Birpai artist, art therapist, and storyteller, Wayde - otherwise known as Aléjandro Lauren - is one artist whose artworks are just as vibrant and outgoing as he is himself.
Dedicated to empowering others through creativity, Aléjandro's work is deeply influenced by his experiences as a gay person of colour in Australia, and he uses art to spotlight social issues, challenge perceptions, and celebrate cultural identity.
Regularly creating and leading educational workshops for children and adults, next month, Aléjandro will lead a creative and uplifting tote bag painting session where those attending can choose their own theme: Culture, Flowers, or Healing Creativity.
The creative workshop which will tale place in April has been designed for autistic, neurodivergent, disabled and CALD LGBTQIA+SB young people

"I lead educational workshops on Aboriginal art for children and adults, and I offer art therapy sessions aimed at promoting self-expression, reducing stress, and fostering personal growth," Aléjandro said.
"By combining my artistic practice with therapeutic techniques, I strive to create a supportive space where people can harness the transformative power of creativity in their daily lives.
"Art has been a guiding force in my own journey of self-discovery, and as I've grown and evolved, my artwork has done the same.
"It's an ongoing exploration of identity, personal development, and cultural roots one that I hope inspires others to embark on their own paths toward healing and self-awareness"

The tote bag painting workshop will take place on Sunday 19th April from 11am to 3:30pm at Ultimo Community Centre.
