Qld Music Trails is gearing up for its 2025 Outback Trail, inviting festivalgoers to an immersive 14-day journey through Queensland's southwest.

Set to run from April 20 to May 3, the Outback Trail will feature events across nine outback towns including Roma, St George, Nindigully, Bollon, Charlotte Plains, Cunnamulla, Thargomindah, Eromanga and Charleville.

Gumbaynggirr Bundjalung man and country music legend Troy Cassar-Daley will return as a headliner, performing at Easter in the Country's Outback Music Under the Stars in Roma.

Sharing his excitement for the upcoming event, Cassar-Daley spoke about the unique connection created between artists and audiences in the outback.

"I am excited to be headlining again at the Outback Trail; it's a special opportunity to bring my songs and stories to the heart of the Queensland outback," he said.

"Performing in Roma, against the backdrop of rugged landscapes and under a canopy of stars, enhances the connection between artists and audiences.

"Outback Music Under the Stars is more than just a festival; it's a celebration of community spirit and the resilience of the outback."

Reflecting on his long history of performing in Queensland's southwest, Cassar-Daley recalled memorable moments from his early career in Roma and its surrounding areas.

"I have fond memories of playing the club hotel in Roma many times in my early career, also gigs around Teelba and St George," he said.

"Seeing the cattle sales a few times there is also a big lasting memory for me.

"I am looking forward to catching up with everyone in that region.

"I have many songs from the last 30 years to share with everyone live onstage in such a unique and beautiful setting."

The Outback Trail's 2025 lineup also includes artists such as James Johnston, Felicity Urquhart & Josh Cunningham, Bronson Diamond and Greta Stanley.

Beginning in Roma on 20 April, the Trail heads to St George on 23 April, Thallon on 26 April, Charlotte Plains on 28 April, Cunnamulla on 29 April, Thargomindah on 30 April, Eromanga on 1 May, and concludes with the Outback Sounds event in Charleville on 3 May.

Queensland Music Festival chief executive, Daryl Raven spoke on the festival's success and the increased support from the Queensland Government.

"We were overwhelmed by the response in 2024, and we're excited to build on that energy with a new lineup and fresh experiences in 2025," Mr Raven said.

Minister Andrew Powell said the Outback Trail has become a key event on Queensland's calendar, drawing visitors to the state's outback regions while supporting local economies.

Tickets are now on sale on the Qld Music Trails website.
