Gomeroi man, Tyler Millott, a Naarm/Melbourne-based artist, will release his newst single When I Feel Like Giving Up, under his project, The Terrifying Lows, on Thursday.

The track explores the emotional complexities of ageing and the overwhelming weight of life's challenges.

"This song started as a feeling," Millott explained.

"It was almost a diary entry before I realised I wanted to include it in this new batch of songs."

Millott's intimate vocal delivery is paired with atmospheric piano and subtle lo-fi electronica, creating a raw, cathartic experience for listeners.

"The more I had this demo lying around, I kept listening to it again and again," he said.

"It felt like this cathartic anthem that I wanted to show the world."

With this release, Millott builds on the signature sound that he has refined through his previous work.

Merging alternative rock with 90s-inspired production, When I Feel Like Giving Up is a testament to his evolving style.

"I feel like now is the perfect time," he said.

"Seeing everything going on at the ARIA's with the mob… there's an audience now, eyes on Indigenous musicians."

The single follows the success of Millott's 2021 self-titled debut LP, which featured the acclaimed singles Waiting for the Sun and earned him critical recognition, including a top 40 finish in the Vanda and Young Global Songwriting Competition.

He has also shared stages with Australian icons including Dan Sultan, Richard Clapton, and Hayley Mary of The Jezabels.

The release offers another glimpse into his anticipated sophomore album, Into the Dark Divide.

Self-produced, the track showcases Millott's do-it-yourself ethos at the forefront of his music.

"This song is about confronting that moment when everything feels overwhelming and the choice to keep going or give in feels razor-thin," he said.

"I hope it resonates with anyone who's ever found themselves in that place."

As his sophomore album approaches, Millott continues to evolve as an artist, blending personal expression with a deep cultural connection to produce music that resonates with a growing audience.

The track will be available across major streaming platforms upon release.
