Known for her ability to fuse jazz, funk, folk and R&B, Proud Noongar artist Bumpy — also known as Amy Dowd — is bringing her Kanana album tour to Sydney this month.
With a voice which balances tenderness and power, the award-winning Naarm-based artist is a magnetic force in Australian music.
Bumpy has wowed audiences at the London Jazz Festival, Shinjuku Pitt Inn, Headlined the Sydney Opera House, Meredith Music Festival, WOMADelaide, and more. She's shared stages with legends like Herbie Hancock, Marcus Miller, Hiatus Kaiyote, and Meshell Ndegeocello.

The talented musician has also garnered several prestigious accolades, including New Talent of the Year at the 2023 National Indigenous Music Awards (NIMAs), the Archie Roach Foundation for Emerging Talent at the 2023 Music Victoria Awards (MVA) and, most recently, nominated for Work of the Year (Jazz) for the APRA Art Awards.
Now it's Bondi's turn to bask in the glow of Bumpy's debut album Kanana — meaning "land where the sun sets" — and its soul-filled celebration of connection and unity, with the Bondi Pavilion hosting the Kanana tour on Friday 27 February
Bumpy took to Instagram to express how much music has helped her heal herself whilst uplifting others ahead of the album tour.
"It's here. It's mine, it's yours, it's ours. KANANA has been my motivator, my healer, my power. It started off with a hope to learn more of my language and have music as the vessel to help me process it all," Bumpy said, via Instagram.
"I wanted to create a safe place for myself and everyone to deeply listen, feel, cry, dance, find joy and hope all in one. I hope you can find the time to sit with it and listen start to back, the way intended. I want to wrap you up and take you on a little journey through my story.

"I'm independent and self-managed and this project has had me circling myself. Wouldn't be where it is today without an entire community around me.
"Community collaboration and care is central in this record. what we do starts with how we operate. I always want to make sure I am doing what I can to uplift and work in ways that creatively nourish the people around us.
"There's so many people who sprinkled their magic all over this. Thank you."
Bumpy will perform at Bondi Pavilion on Friday 27 February as well as selected locations across Australia from Wednesday 18 October.
