Boorloo based reggae outfit South Summit have released their sophomore album 'RUN IT BACK' after years of touring, sold-out headline shows and growing national attention.

The 12-track album follows a run of singles including 'WE ARE', 'TOP OF THE HILL', 'ON THE DASH' and 'HEARTLESS'.

Recorded with producer Dave Parkin, who has worked with Spacey Jane, Old Mervs, Sly Withers and Great Gable, the album also features co-writing contributions from Marlon Gerbes of Six60.

'RUN IT BACK' expands South Summit's sound with elements of funk, hip-hop and R&B, while continuing the band's mix of reggae, psychedelia and groove-driven songwriting.

The band said the album captured a major period in their lives.

"We're incredibly proud to finally have this album out in the world," South Summit said.

"These songs capture a huge chapter of our lives and everything we've experienced over the last few years touring, growing and creating together.

"The support from fans has been unreal and we can't thank everyone enough for being part of the journey."

The album moves through themes of love, friendship, self-discovery, togetherness, heartbreak, loss and personal growth.

Its release follows a strong period for the band, with recent singles earning first plays on triple j Breakfast and Drive, rotation across the network and places among triple j's Top 5 Most Played Songs.

Both 'HEARTLESS' and 'WE ARE' also reached the AMRAP Top 10 Most Played Songs chart.

South Summit have also built momentum through support slots for Tash Sultana and The Dreggs, a performance at triple j's 50th Anniversary celebrations, an appearance at Spilt Milk and a 15-date UK and European tour with The Terrys.

The band will take 'RUN IT BACK' on their biggest Australian and New Zealand headline tour to date in July.

They will then head to New Zealand for four shows.

South Summit will also return to the UK and Europe later this year for an extensive album tour.

"We hope people can connect with this record as much as we connected with making it," the band said.
