The ELLA Foundation will celebrate the first ever AusArt Day on Thursday, October 23, hosting an online fundraising event dedicated to empowering the next generation of First Nations dancers, mentors, and cultural leaders.
Founded by Wiradjuri dancer Ella Havelka, The ELLA Foundation breaks down systemic barriers in the arts by providing scholarships, mentoring, and community dance programs for First Nations youth across Australia.
Each year, The ELLA Foundation creates scholarships and mentorships to support First Nations young people in accessing dance training across schools and studios throughout Australia. The organisation tailors support to the needs of each recipient, creating pathways to further education, professional development, and artistic growth.
In partnership with community organisations, The ELLA Foundation deliver workshops and programs that foster intercultural dialogue and celebrate First Nations cultural revitalisation through storytelling, weaving, movement, and connection to Country.
This year's AusArt Day fundraiser will feature a range of activities including a raffle for handwoven baskets crafted by Ella, a sale for Yurali Ensemble Ballet Leotards that have been handpainted by Ella, a Lunch and Learn session for dance schools and teachers to connect, ask questions, and explore ways to become involved in The ELLA Foundation's programs and much more.

Funds raised during the AusArt Day fundraiser will support the growth of the ELLA Foundations programs in 2026 including the Scholarship and Mentoring programs, the Yurali Ensemble Ballet Program and the Barradambang Community Dance Workshops.
"AusArt Day is a celebration of creativity, connection, and community," said Havelka.
"It's about uplifting young First Nations voices and ensuring that dance spaces across Australia are culturally responsive and inclusive."
