Created by sisters Bianca and Jaydene Long, Jaru Girl Designs is a celebration of connection to their grandfather's Country, Sturt Creek.
The sisters' sustainable fashion collection reflects family values, culture, and identity. Inspired by their roots in Halls Creek and Wyndham, the brand also showcases the beauty of the Kimberley region.
This week Jaru Girl Designs returned to the Country to Couture runway with a new collection.
"Jaru Girl Designs is a small independent art and fashion business brand which is built on my strong collection of my family, culture and my country, also this brand is about sharing my heritage with other cultures," Bianca said.
"This is my second time showcasing on the Country to Couture runway... I applied like many of the other designers from around Australia and was successful in my application to be a part of this great opportunity.
"This is my sister Jaydene's first time being part of the Country to Couture runway event."

Bianca said the new collection - the Milky Water Western Shirt collection - reflects her grandfather's Country, Sturt Creek in the Kimberley.
"That is where the name of the Milky Water comes from. This collection also tells powerful stories of families' connection to rodeo and of our history of five generations of stockmen and women working on Station in the Kimberley," she told Style Up.
"We have created 10 prints that each represent the country, fruits and plants that are found in the country. Also this collection is a tribute to the Aboriginal stockmen, men and women who have gone before us."
"This collection is a collaboration between myself and my little sister Jaydene."

"My journey started when I came home to Wyndham in 2019 where I launched my first Collection under the Jaru Girl Brand. This collection is call the Connection to Country Collection, I held a fashion event in my Arts Hub," Bianca said.
"Jaydene's journey as a designer started one year ago when she told me that she would like to do a Western shirt range, so this is where we collaborated together on this collection."

Looking ahead, Bianca hopes to further continue her work with her sister and develop the brand further.
"Continue of development the Jaru Girl brand and upcoming collections is working with women in the remote community of Balgo," she said.
