Northern Sound System is proud to announce an unmissable celebration of music, culture and connection will be held on May 24, headlined by internationally acclaimed act Electric Fields.

Presented in the lead-up to National Reconciliation Week, the all-ages event will see Northern Sound System in Adelaide's north – a renowned youth creative hub that has helped launch careers of artists like Tkay Maidza, Teenage Joans, Elsy Wameyo and TOWNS – transformed into a high-energy, multi-stage music experience held across indoor and outdoor stages, with food trucks, a licensed area, and vibrant community-first atmosphere, to honour First Nations voices through performance, creativity, and community.

Electric Fields' return to the stage in South Australia is more than a performance — it's a homecoming. Fresh from representing Australia at Eurovision 2024 and receiving the Keys to the City of Adelaide, the genre-defying duo — Zaachariaha Fielding and Michael Ross — have carved a global legacy blending moving electronic soul with Fielding's native languages: Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara.

Their meteoric rise includes ARIA, NIMA, and SA Music Awards wins; standing ovations with Australia's leading symphony orchestras; and international tours from New York City to Budapest. Described by Vogue as "movers of the next gen," Electric Fields are celebrated as one of the most influential acts in Australian music today. To experience their performance in an intimate, community setting in Adelaide's north is a rare and powerful moment.

Joining Electric Fields for this one-night-only celebration is a standout lineup of First Nations artists representing the richness and diversity of contemporary Indigenous music in Australia including, J–Milla, RIAH and Katie Aspel.

Dynamic hip hop artist J–Milla, originally from Darwin and now based in Adelaide, is known for his powerful lyrics, bold stage presence and strong voice on social justice. A Top 5 finalist in triple j Unearthed's NIMAs competition, his tracks like Unlock the System and My People have earned national airplay and deep community resonance.

Joining him is RIAH — a proud Ngarrindjeri woman and emerging R&B artist — blending soulful vocals with smooth production and storytelling rooted in identity, strength and self-expression. Her debut EP Welcome to RIAHWorld was praised for its vulnerability and creative edge.

Rounding out the lineup is Katie Aspel, a singer-songwriter from the Riverland and a proud Ngarrindjeri and Torres Strait Islander woman. Her warm, folk-pop sound and heartfelt lyrics connect audiences across generations; she's a regular on SA's festival circuit and a standout from WOMADelaide's 2023 showcase of local Indigenous talent.

City of Playford mayor, Glenn Docherty, said the event would be an opportunity for the public and attendees to embrace culture and connect with the local community.

"Northern Sound System has built a strong reputation as a cultural and creative hub in Playford and beyond. Its world-class status ensures our community can enjoy high-calibre acts, including Electric Fields, best known for representing Australia at Eurovision 2024," he said.

The event is proudly supported by the Strong and Resilient Communities (SARC) program through the Australian government – Department of Social Services, and is a collaboration between Northern Sound System, the City of Playford, and NSS's Creative Industries and Youth teams.

In the lead-up to the event, Northern Sound System will also deliver two creative workshops for First Nations students (including a songwriting and music development workshop with J–Milla, and a game development workshop) empowering young people to explore creative career pathways.
