Indigenous businesswoman Erika Ferrier of Deadly Skincare received third place in Indigenous Business Excellence at the recent AusMumpreneur Awards.
Created by sisters Peace Mitchell and Katy Garner, the AusMumpreneur Awards celebrate the achievements of Australian mums in business across a wide range of categories, including business excellence, product innovation, customer service, sustainability, and technology.
"There are so many incredible women right across Australia balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship, and these awards are a chance to share their stories and celebrate their success," said Ms Garner.

Ms Ferrier said her brand arose from her passion for beauty and culture.
"Deadly Skincare started from my kitchen table, but its spirit comes from my late Pop and Nan, who taught me the power of education, culture, and never forgetting where I come from. This award is more than recognition it's a tribute to them, to my heritage, and to showing that First Nations women have a place on every shelf in the beauty industry," she said.
Deadly Skincare is a First Nations-owned skincare brand, which strives to harness the power of Australia's native botanicals, rich in bioactive compounds, vitamins, and antioxidants, and elevated them with clinically backed ingredients that work on a cellular level to hydrate, rejuvenate, protect, and restore the skin. Dermatologically tested, cruelty-free, and sustainably made in Australia, our formulas are housed in eco-conscious packaging that reflects our commitment to caring for both your skin and the environment.

Ms Ferrier is proud of what Deadly Skincare has achieved in the last 12 months from being discovered at the Australian Beauty Expo to preparing for its first product launch.
"Being a mum has made me braver. Even on the hardest days, I rise and keep building a future my son will be proud of. Deadly Skincare proves you don't need to have it all to start, you just need to back yourself and remember where you come from," she said.
For others considering starting their own business, Erika said: "Stop waiting for the perfect time."
"Start where you are with what you've got. Stay in your lane, stay strong, and own your story because your story is your strength," she said.
Thanks to support from Business Events Victoria, this year's event was held in regional Victoria for the first time, showcasing Geelong as a hub for innovation, creativity, and women-led businesses.
"This event offered women an opportunity to find connection, support and inspiration while also celebrating their success with others who understand the journey of business and parenting," said AusMumpreneur Awards co-founder Ms Mitchell.
