Indigenous hip-hop collective 3% unveiled Darumbal and Tongan artist Mi-kaisha as its newest member during a surprise BIGSOUND set at Crowbar on Wednesday night.

The announcement came at midnight before a packed house, with the performance presented by Goolwal Goolwal.

Mi-kaisha joined Nooky and Dallas Woods on stage, bringing a matriarchal voice to the collective as the group debuted its expanded line-up.

The three artists performed with the cohesion of a group that had been together for years, with Mi-kaisha's vocals threaded through 3%'s hyped live set.

The crowd responded from the opening moments, building through the group's performance before the night reached another level towards the end of the set.

Butchulla Songman Fred Leone then joined 3% to perform their new single, "Not Many - Ganay Biralunbar", a reworking of Scribe's 2003 hip-hop classic "Not Many".

The song brings together 3%, Fred Leone and rap icon Scribe, with Uncle Fred's Butchulla vocals opening the track before a yidaki replaces the original's familiar horn-led production.

The single also marks Mi-kaisha's first release as part of 3%, with her vocals tying the track together across the nations.

Uncle Fred said this performance marks a huge moment for Indigenous hip hop.

"My adrenaline is still pumping. I'm so overjoyed that Indigneous hip hop is now at the level that it's at.

"I've been apart of it since 1997 and now to see 3% and everyone doing what they're doing - it's a BLAK OUT.

"Right now is the golden era of Indigenous Hip hop."

Uncle Fred said the collaboration carried a message of shared strength between First Nations people on both sides of the Tasman.

"One spear in the ground and we're sending the other to the cuzzies in Aotearoa as a sign of respect," he said.

"Because we fight the same fight."

The Crowbar audience erupted when Scribe emerged to perform alongside Mr Leone and 3%.

Scribe then performed his classic "Dreaming' from his debut album *The Crusader*, adding another major moment to the first night of BIGSOUND.

The original 'Not Many' spent 12 weeks at number one on the New Zealand singles chart and became one of Aotearoa hip-hop's defining releases.

Scribe's 'The Crusader' also topped the New Zealand albums chart and went on to reach five-times platinum status.

For 3%, the performance followed recent releases 'All Gucci' with The Terrys and 'Welcome 2 Country'.

The group has continued to build a profile through releases that centre Blak power, pride and protest, following ARIA recognition, NIMA nominations and major live appearances across Australia.

Uncle Fred arrives on the collaboration after a breakthrough year that included Artist of the Year at the 2026 NIMAs with Birdz for their joint EP 'GIRA'.

'Not Many - Ganay Biralunbar' is available now through major streaming platforms with a music video set to release on Thursday evening.
