Trail blazing Canadian First Nations actor Graham Greene has passed away at age 73.
Mr Greene died on Monday in a Toronto hospital after a long illness.
His agent, Michael Greene, said in a statement to entertainment outlet Deadline that the Oscar nominated actor "was a great man of morals, ethics and character and will be eternally missed".
"You are finally free. Susan Smith is meeting you at the gates of heaven," he said, referring to the actor's longtime agent who passed away in 2013.
Michael Greene told the ABC (US) the respected actor "loved all he did for his people and for the world."
Graham Greene was born on the Six Nations Reserve in Ohsweken on June 22, 1952.
By the 1970s, he was performing professionally as a stage actor in Canada and the UK.
In 1979 he made his television debut in Canadian series The Great Detective and four years later landed his first film role in Running Brave.
Mr Greene shot to international prominence in 1991 with a starring role in Kevin Costner's Dances with Wolves. His performance as Sioux medicine man Kicking Bird (Ziŋtká Nagwáka) earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actor in the Academy Awards.

He also appeared in Thunderheart (1992), Maverick (1994), Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995), The Green Mile (1999), Transamerica (2005), and The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009).
On television, Mr Greene also appeared on Northern Exposure, Longmire and Goliath.
More recently he appeared in Aaron Sorkin's Molly's Game (2017) - reuniting with Costner, and Taylor Sheridan's Wind River (2017), and two Paramount+ series, 1883 and Tulsa King, as well as FX's series Reservation Dogs and in Amazon's The Red Road.
Mr Greene is survived by wife Hilary Blackmore, daughter Lillie Lazard-Greene, and grandson Talo.
