Whadjuk/Ballardong Noongar hip-hop artist Taija has made her long-anticipated debut with the release of her first official single 'Mood Killa', marking a bold entrance into the Australian music scene.

Based in Boorloo (Perth), Taija draws from hip-hop, trap and R&B influences to create a sound that is bass-heavy and assertive, while still carrying emotional depth.

Produced by Iamsolo - known for his work with One Four – and TEHIIRI, the track combines sharp lyricism with a clean, driving beat, introducing a style that is both dynamic and distinctive.

"It all came together so spontaneously, with Rush and Solo in the studio creating the beat, and in the same session, I just laid a verse onto it," Taija said.

"Mood Killa represents my entrance into the Australian music scene - upbeat with high level of charisma and attitude – a good example of what's ahead.

"I'm excited to drop this as my first track with FN Focus, and for this new chapter in my career."

Released under Western Australian label FN Focus, the track is part of a larger creative push that sees Taija working closely with acclaimed producers while crafting music that speaks to her lived experience and cultural identity.

Her work is informed by her Noongar heritage and shaped by her desire to speak honestly about strength, identity, and transformation through her art.

Despite this being her first official release, Taija has already gained traction through a number of live performances in 2024.

She appeared at Flewnt's Boorloo Block Party alongside artists such as Flewnt, Inkabee, JK-47, 3% and J-MILLA, and also supported BARKAA during her Boorloo stop on tour.

Taija also opened for Downsyde at the Nannup Music Festival, demonstrating her ability to hold the stage and connect with audiences across different live settings.

Her upcoming performance at the 2025 APRA Music Awards in Naarm/Melbourne, scheduled for 30 April, is expected to be a key moment in her early career and will further position her as one of the breakout artists to watch in the national scene.

With 'Mood Killa' now available on all streaming platforms, Taija is looking ahead to what comes next - focused on growth, authenticity, and building a body of work that reflects her perspective.
