Known for his down-to-earth nature and go-getter attitude, First Nations model Jay Campbell is proving a career in the fashion industry can progressively boom in a matter of months.

Since fronting the cover of Style Up's April 2024 print edition, the talented model and proud Bundjalung man has strived to grow his presence both on and off the runway.

With the Canberra-born model continuing to pursue ventures he is intrigued and passionate about, 2025 is set to see Campbell offered a series of new and exciting opportunities.

Having already worked with renowned Australian brands such as By Johnny, General Pants Co and Nagnata, Campbell has also walked the runway at events including Melbourne Fashion Festival and Melbourne Fashion Week.

Whilst he is eager to engage in new projects, Campbell says 2025 has started in somewhat of a relaxed manner, explaining he has been enjoying time with family and friends before a busy few months ahead.

"Kicked off 2025 pretty well, already met some amazing people but the past couple of months I've just been chilling out, fishing, surfing, skating and hanging with my mates," he said.

When discussing how his career has grown since last chatting with Style Up, Campbell says his growth and success has led him to become more organised and efficient - something the laid-back surfer now views as routine.

"100 per cent the past six months have definitely been super hectic but super fun as well, and one way I get to juggle that schedule is literally just by sitting down and taking the time out to organise everything, whether that be flights, jobs, my own time and everything like that," he said.

"2024 was a strong point for the Indigenous fashion market [and] with the momentum that was created, 2025 is going to be an exceptional year for not only models but designers and creatives to be able to express their work."

In his cool, calm and collected demeanour Campbell said while he does have several projects in the works, he is enjoying easing back into it.

With seasonal Fashion Week events quickly approaching, Campbell is undoubtedly enjoying the luxury of free time as he - like many models - knows when the fashion calendar ramps up, he will most likely be booked with a back-to-back, non-stop schedule.

"I do have a couple of plans for the rest of this year but at the moment I'm just chilling in Australia and we'll just see what happens," he said.

"What's next for me is just chilling out, looking after myself and people around me."
