Known for her successful modelling career and down-to-earth nature, Billie Jean Hamlet is a name many within the fashion industry are familiar with.
The proud Walmatjarri/Yamatiji woman and model caught the eye of many this month following her return to the runway at AFC Australian Fashion Week.
Having appeared on the runways of many celebrated Australian designers, the talented model is not only paving the way forward for younger generations but also inspiring emerging First Nations models.
Passionate about her culture, Hamlet continues to advocate for greater representation within the fashion industry.
After developing a successful career, the talented creative is proving to aspiring Indigenous models that they can achieve anything they put your mind to.
"I feel so proud because growing up, I didn't see much representation, so it's so full circle right now because obviously there are so many of us blak creatives and designers around," Hamlet told Style Up backstage at Australian Fashion Week.
"It's the most special thing to be a part of."
Jumping from show to show, Hamlet walked the runway for numerous designers at fashion week including Ngali, Nagnata, Bulluy Mirri, Van Ermel Scherer, Courtney Zheng and L'idee Woman.
