Mulga Bore Hard Rock has released their second single, Sweet Home Mulga Bore, through Community Music.
The Akaye glam-rock band follows up their debut track, Young Men (Younga Barla Mapa), with a song that pays tribute to family, culture, and home.
Originally written as a country ballad by Akaye elder Dave Bird, the track was reimagined in the studio with a hard rock edge while maintaining the original melody's essence.
Lead singer Alvin Manfong and his family grew up singing the song, which reflects life in Akaye, depicting memories of hunting, bush food, and time spent with family.
Manfong described the song as a reminder of his upbringing.
"I see all the bush tucker—goanna, kangaroo, bush tomatoes, bush banana, bush honey from the tree and honey ants," he said.
"We found some old footage from our parents' days before most of us were born.
"It also reminds me of all the amazing times we have been on the road playing around Australia and how lucky we are to share our story from Mulga Bore to the world."
He added that songwriting is deeply embedded in their family tradition.
"We have picked up the music bug from our Uncles, Aunties, Mum and Dad," Manfong said.
"The next generation is coming up now, playing these old songs too, so the story keeps going."
The release follows the success of Young Men, which gained attention from NT News, Rolling Stone Australia, ABC Indigenous, and national radio stations.
The band is now set to perform at The Tote in Collingwood (March 6), Port Fairy Folk Festival (March 7), and Meredith's Golden Plains (March 8), alongside major acts including PJ Harvey and Fontaines D.C.
Mulga Bore Hard Rock, comprising six musicians aged 15 to 20, gained national recognition after supporting KISS at their final Australian tour date before releasing any music.
Their performance drew praise from the rock legends and set the stage for their growing reputation.
They have since been highlighted at Bigsound and SXSW Sydney, earning acclaim from industry media.
