Akaye glam-rock group Mulga Bore Hard Rock have announced their debut album 'Sweet Home Mulga Bore', set for release on Friday 29 May via Community Music.

The announcement follows months of anticipation and arrives alongside the release of the band's new single 'Stay', which has just released.

The band is also set to appear as part of the Vivid Sydney 2026 program.

'Stay' reveals a softer side of the group through their first love song, combining a ballad style with the band's hard rock sound.

The track reflects on memories and moments shared with someone far away, before building into melodic solos, driving guitar lines and an anthemic chorus centred on the hope of being reunited.

Alvin Manfong of Mulga Bore Hard Rock said the song was inspired by a personal experience.

"This is my first love song," Mr Manfong said.

"I met a girl and I fell in love but we were both far away from each other with our families and we didn't see each other - I just wanted her to stay with me.

"It's a beautiful story... but really, this song is for anyone who's ever felt lonely - that feeling where there's no way out but you have to get through it. For couples, for close friends, for anyone missing someone."

The upcoming album includes previously released singles 'Young Men,' 'Heavy Rain' and the title track 'Sweet Home Mulga Bore'.

Working with producer Dave Walker and Craig Harneth at Hothouse Audio in St Kilda, the band created an eight-track record driven by their hard rock style and storytelling.

The songs draw on their upbringing in Mulga Bore, with themes of family, love, big dreams and carrying Country wherever they go.

The project was supported by Songlines Aboriginal Corporation, the Bush Music Fund and the Bright Moon Trust.

Mulga Bore Hard Rock are made up of Thunder Child (Alvin Manfong - vocals and guitar), Desert Demon (Kirklen Bird - bass and vocals), Desert Dingo (Aiden Manfong - drums), Queen of Hearts (Niara Tilmouth - vocals and tambourine), Star Boy (Tryell Bird - guitar and vocals) and Black Diamond (Talvin Bird - bass).

The group are aged between 15 and 20 and have quickly gained attention within the Australian rock scene.

Earlier in their career they were invited to support rock band KISS at the final Australian date of the band's farewell tour, a performance that helped bring the group national attention.

'Stay' is out now via Community Music.

'Sweet Home Mulga Bore' will be released on Friday 29 May.
