Creative director of Jalayimiya, Brodie George, has launched a new garment.

Formerly Jalayimiya Swim, George's Aboriginal-owned label specialises in swimwear and everyday beach attire.

The Nakarra Mesh Dress is the first dress style drop George has done since rebranding.

"It's a figure fitting style made to flatter women's curves in all the right places while still having a comfortable fit for easy wearing," George said.

"The print is a little more mainstream however still with my desert art flavour using shades of turquoise with pops of peach and red.

"It was my best seller ever with 75 per cent of stock sold in less than 24 hours, size 10 which is one of my higher stock levels sold out first within 10 hours.

"1 week after launch there are less than seven items in stock across sizes 16, 20 and 22."

George said she is confident in how the brand is progressing and is seeking out new ways to gain and apply different forms of inspiration into the brand, its products and its photo shoots.

"I feel very settled in my brand and have the confidence to back that which means I have more mental capacity for creativity so I have been having fun with the story telling element of my latest photo shoots, giving each drop a 'vibe' rather than just showing off the pieces using props and different locations," she said.

"This photo shoot was shot in the city by Scott Chin and was inspired by Tokyo nightlife fish eye style photography."

Looking ahead, George is eager to focus on core styles in addition to further cementing the brand's most popular garments as statement pieces.

"Like the Core Swim range, I'm designing pieces that are going to be statement pieces across my collections that women know, trust and love," she said.

"The next colourway I have already ordered double the quantity to match demand with one small tweak dropping sizes six and 22 which were part of the trial to see if this would work for Jalayimiya however statistics show these sizes move slower and less frequently so as a small independently funded brand these calls must be made to ensure the Jalayimiya community is catered to as best as possible.

"Throughout this year you will see an introduction of core styles including the new wide leg style pants which are dual sizing which was also very popular item dropped late last year and is also sold out.

"Still keeping with the theme of small batch to reduce my carbon footprint and the element of caring for Country.

"I know sell outs can be frustrating for the community however ethically it sits better with me to have stock moving quickly rather than sitting in HQ and eventually ending up in landfill, thus aligns with the conscious fashion movement."

Founded in 2022, George has grown Jalayimiya year after year. We can not wait to see what the multi-talented creative does next in 2026.
